Lights.......Camera.......Aquatics?

We want to continue educating our audience about all the awesome branches physical therapy offers. Did you know we can conduct therapy in the pool? You bet we can! And with temps rising, so are the number of aquatic visits.

What is aquatic therapy? Think weightless and resistive exercise in the pool with your very own PT.

No pool of your own? No problem! You can meet our therapists at your local YMCA or community pool. We also offer personalized exercise prescriptions for aquatic therapy to be performed at your convenience.

With more and more of the health industry switching to Telehealth, you can absolutely meet us in a Zoom meeting for aquatic care. Prop up your phone on the edge of the pool and we will take care of the rest.

Conditions appropriate for aquatic visits

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis

  • Low back pain

  • Multiple sclerosis

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Long-haul covid

  • And many more!

What are the benefits of aquatic physical therapy?

Aquatic care is especially beneficial for patients with chronic pain that have a fear of moving or pain with movement. As you know, the effects of gravity are limited when you are submerged in water which allows patients to move more freely. If you are looking for a way to exercise with less pain, give the pool a try.

Further evidence supporting aquatic care from www.apta.org, "The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and APTA support the use of community-based activity programs to manage arthritis and related chronic conditions outside a therapeutic setting. "

Since the onset of COVID-19, physical therapists began seeing the effects of "long-haul covid" on patients. Many patients report difficulty with aerobic tolerance and endurance affecting their ability to perform everyday tasks. Aquatic exercise enables these patients to slowly build up endurance to activity as well as strengthen muscles using resistance provided by the water. Don't believe me? Try moving your arms out and down from your body quickly and you will be singing a different tune!

Last but not least, aquatic therapy is fun! It's already hot down here in Texas at Concierge Orthopedic headquarters so why not move this show to the pool? Want to book an in-person or virtual aquatic visit today? Click the link below for requests. We can't wait to get you moving!
